And just like that… the months of planning, hours of preparation and the days when my baby wasn’t one are all behind us. I have loved every second of it though! And I’m not as sad as I thought I would be. I mean sure, I miss him being a tiny little squishy baby, but I am so excited for him and all of the amazing adventures he will get to go on as he continues to grow!
Bur this day was going 100MPH until the party started. Everyone was decorating, cooking, cleaning or trying to help me keep El fed and watered until fiesta time! My family was, as always, such a huge help. I literally rely on them for everything. Jordan cooked, my Dad among others also cooked, my Dad’s Girlfriend helped me decorate, my little sister took pictures, and the rest of my family and friends played with Ellis and kept him uberly happy making everything go without a hiccup. Not that Ellis will remember this day, but we sure will. And it will be the fondest, most perfect birthday memory so far 😉
So- without further ado- welcome to the inside of Ellis’s First Fiesta!!

Okay, so maybe I’m not ACTUALLY falling in love. My love for fall has always been strong. I love having a house full of pumpkins and everything that smells like them, I love the color schemes and the temp outside! BUT- this year I have a special little babe and he makes me love everything so much more than I did before because I get to share it all with him! And although he isn’t old enough to appreciate all of my crafts/decor just yet, I’m still just as excited about it because at least he’s here and I’m pretending he loves it 🙂 I think I have posted most of these pictures already because like I said- the excitement- but I’ll go ahead and post them all here so they are in one place. My friend and I recently had a craft date which resulted in the wreaths- super easy! We got everything we needed from Michaels and even a little extra for our next craft:) A little tip on hanging your letter: the letters from Michaels that are already painted like this one have a slick finish on them that doesn’t work very well with hot glue. But on the back of the letter there is a place for it to be hung- so I found a thick screw and wedged it into a tight spot in my wreath and just hung the letter on it. It’s surprisingly secure and was way easier than trying to hot glue it like I tried on my last wreath.
Anyway, if you haven’t yet, go outside and smell the fall front sweeping in! It’s better than my pumpkin scented candles 😉 From my family to yours- HAPPY FALL!!
I have always loved making things. Craft things, assembling things, trying to put things together without the instructions because who needs those? But- my dad is a Carpenter, so I may have grown up with a slight advantage in the assembly department 🙂
My latest DIY project was pretty easy! But I’m very fortunate to have my dad around to always fetch the extra pieces I need from job sites. This project started out as two oak frames that I picture used to be cabinet doors. They had spots where hinges used to be on the back, and also a spot where handles used to be on the front. To a lot of people, this pair probably just looked like firewood. But when Jordan showed them to me, I immediately thought to myself- “Awesome! What’s it gonna be?”
After weeks of trying to figure out the perfect use for these frames, the answer turned out to be chalkboards! I am so excited about these for the fall so that I can draw little pumpkins and really dress them up! Hopefully they will be hung by then 🙂
I’m in love with the way these turned out! There is something so rewarding about making your own decorations if you’re able. Try it out if you’re up for it!
